CMS Mental Health and Wellbeing Network
About
The estimated number of people directly bereaved by suicide a year is 34,146. That is 34,146 too many. 34,146 lives devastated each year by this very specific, complex and painful grief. That is the number of people in Suicide & Co's target community each year who could need access to their services. Suicide & Co created the 34k Challenge to raise awareness of how big our community is and to raise funds to help those bereaved by suicide access their counselling service.
On the 10th of September which is World Suicide Prevention Day, Alex, Amy, Tim, David and Vanessa from CMS' Mental Health and Wellbeing Committee will be running (ok, maybe jogging)/swimming/rollerskating/cycling various distances (but at least 11.3kms each) to cover (at least) 34km as a team to help raise awareness and funds for Suicide & Co. Each of us is passionate about mental health and about destigmatising suicide. We know (some of us from direct personal experience) that loss by suicide is incredibly painful and complex. We hope you can support us to support Suicide & Co, because suicide always has company, and those left behind often need specialist support which is very rarely available. Please sponsor us if you can!
